NGD: Kramer Baretta Special

Hahahaha. Just messing around. We would use it very sarcastically...almost as a weapon. Oh how I miss those days, hated them then....but now......oh man.

Miss laying on the flight deck underway, so cool.
Pretty much the same, but it really depended on the context. Kind of like the Southern "Bless your heart" thing.

I've been consistently glad I got out. 6 years, with MUCH of it out to sea was enuff for this dude.

Oh I'm glad not to be in, just miss the time at sea....and the travel.

My last deployment, I started a ships band with another guy from Combat Systems and we did a bunch of parties and bars in Europe. The ship bought our PA, and totally gave us time off to practice....but we had to do 2 parties in uniform.....but we could drink!

Had like 8 members, and a road crew.....I left my ATM card at home and lived off off split pay....came home with 500 bucks ....and an overload of money in my account.....that was cool.

Did a little more work on the guitar today.

I grabbed one of the $30 musiclily tremolos off Amazon as I didn’t like the floating PRS tremolo. The musiclily has a pretty decent looking brass block and cast saddles which I like. It’s finished kinda cheap of course and there was some extra metal on the knife edge that got plated over so I sanded it smooth. After that it installed easily. I will say it was nice they included a ton of extra different length hex screws so you can adjust the saddles high or low without cutting up your fingers when palm muting.

Anyways I ended up screwing down the claw so it’s more like a fixed bridge and it was easy to set the saddle height and get intonation set. Pretty good bridge for $30 on a cheap guitar. It plays much better with this bridge and of course tuning stability is a ton better.

Other thing I did was swap the 59 custom hybrid for my suhr wood bucker. The hybrid was kind of dark and chunky in this guitar. Not sure if the wood bucker will stick but between the new tremolo and the pickup swap it sounds more balanced and pretty lively. Also the raw nickel covered pickup looks a million times better than the zebra coil.

I do think the guitar either needs a tiny bit of neck shim or a bit of fret work as it’s choking a tiny bit on bends above 12. It feels a little too flat up top of that makes sense. But a tiny tweak and it’s going to be a really nice playing guitar.
