NGD: Fender American Original 60’s Telecaster

I like that the American Originals are slept on currently because they’re awesome and not priced stupid. I’ve got an AO 70s Tele custom and love it.

I acquired this one yesterday. It is a 2018 and currently in the set up phase. So far it is coming along nicely. I’ve always favored double bound teles.

Yours looks fantastic too. I hope you enjoy it as much as I hope to enjoy mine!

They and all the other American Original series were great but I suspect the radius change that made them work also cut in to custom shop sales, hence discontinued .

Nice! Yeah that one looks awesome! Really fantastic guitars.

I’ve heard that a few times unofficially. I heard similar rumors about the 2013-2017 AV series that preceded these, though they have the traditional radius.

In either event, mine is a smoking good player and sounds fantastic too. I wish I’d grabbed one of these years ago. It kinda halted my rather rabid tele consumption.

did they do something sensible like put 12" radiuses on em? cause i did that on all my teles by myself

i LOVE telecasters and have three- but i hate smaller than a 9.5"- its like playing on the grip of a baseball bat and it definitely prefer the opposite end

9.5” and taller frets . I prefer flatter myself but they play a whole lot better then the previous generation or the replacement. And yes you can change it but most don’t.

My tele is16” and has 57110 stainless steel frets.

oh damn! thats flat! someday im gonna try stainless frets but ive never met them thus far in life- i know youve recommended em, and i definitely wear out nickels... but id haveta have compelling evidence that the expense would be worth it for a hack such as myself
my new wierdo stratele has 9.5" and vintage talls which takes a minute to get used to cause ill mash em sharp if i dont relax!
