I gigged with a Tonelab SE for about a decade. it was the first modeler, imho, that responded like a tube amp. Believe me I tried everything by all of the usual suspects.
The Bozos at TOP were always saying that the tube was a "gimmick". I don't know how many times I explained that the 12AX7 was used in a circuit that modeled constant current and speaker interaction along with class A and class AB topology.
Why Vox started dumbing down the valvetronix by using cheaper parts I'll never know. Eventually I moved on to Atomic and then Helix.
I regret selling my tonelab.
Blug has done something similar with the AMP1 but I've never tried one. The new Fractal AM4 seems to take some inspiration from those Vox modelers as far as the "option paralysis" thing. Emphasis on core amp models and a few effects is all I need.
If Vox ever released these again, recreating the old standards with some modern touches I'd happily jump back in.
