New PRS Herman Li, for realz this time

Chicago Music Exchange just called to inform me that they oversold, and I was out of luck.

Woohoo! Honestly, I like the looks of this one better.

Agreed charcoal looks cooler than red imo…. Not that either finish could go wrong lol

Thanks for helping me develop a little confirmation bias that this is the one I am destined to have.

My first guitar was an entry level, Wonderbar equipped black Washburn that never really connected with me, and then it was stolen from the Jazz Chorus equipment room at my high school in 1987. Since then, I have stayed away from black guitars. I guess it's time to move on and heal. :rofl

Watching the video, then Phil McKnight's vid, it's cool to see they put some time and effort into it and I dig that Paul is willing to take a chance like that, stepping outside his normal bounds with the general PRS body shape. It's definitely unique and I highly doubt anyone who gets one will be disappointed with what they get. Think it would have been cooler if they mismatched the black/gold hardware, black trem plate/gold saddles, black nut/gold lock pads/black tuning machines and bushings with gold knobs/posts.

We have all seen the video of breaking one of the early versions in half. I am interested to see if they have significantly strengthened the neck joint because without mechanical help or a complete redesign it is not fit for purpose.

Gotta say, this is pretty fucking great :rofl

Timestamped-

I knew there was no way they weren't going to address that neck break that occurred at a live show and this was pretty clever in getting ahead of everyone who was going to post that video while tagging both PRS and Herman in it saying, "You want us to buy this for $5K?"
