Picked up a Yamaha DHR12M. Had a little bit to jam through it earlier this evening. Seems like more than loud enough for guitar and vocal purposes at practice. FM3 sounded super punchy through it.

Third coaxial monitor I've owned. CLR stuck around quite some time, EV absolutely did not. First practice with it Monday so we'll see how it shakes out with a full band.

What did you not like about the EV? I’ve been tempted to try the Yamaha, but I’m really happy with my PXM.
All non-existent, semi-imaginary reasons, for the most part :bag

The EVs are loud and great overall. Not the clarity of the CLR imo but very good. I am trying not to jinx my perception of the Yamaha by saying this :nails:LOL:; but the wedge with one handle form factor (just big enough to be annoying and make me wish I was just carrying a head) thing is real! This won't move around like the EV and CLR did though, so maybe that bullet will be dodged? We'll know after this next week's practice.

I gigged the CLR quite a bit and the EV once. I personally didn't like the DSP portion of the EV. CLR was GREAT but I still wanted to be using a regular amp at the time so it went bye-bye. This was back when you could sell things and when I didn't just say screw it and kept it all

Hell yeah.. I have four of these and they are absolutely glorious. They also stack nicely on their sides so if you get two of them, you have a super loud rig.
Yeah I did some research on them beforehand and your post somewhere here came up! I bet 2 together would rip some faces off :satan

I can tell I am going to have to do a little bit of global eq'ing or brighten up my presets just a tad. I'm just as much looking forward to seeing how the PA vocal feed works through them alongside my guitar in the practice space. Super solid build overall and impressive on that end.

Are you planning on using this thing as a live backline or just a personal monitor? I think it's usually better to err on the side of darker tone when cranking everything up. Although I still dip 3.2k and 5.2k a little bit so I can crank it up loud while lessening the physical pain that loud guitar tends to cause.

Just as leave it in the jam spot wedge for my guitar as well as added vocal support on that side of the room. I am probably just trying easing up on the hi-cuts a bit or dial in a bit more treble and/or presence on my 2 presets I am using for this project.
I don't know what an 'atomic joke' is, but I bet it'd be explosive

You might be the first person I've heard of that didn't like the EV PXM-12MP... If I'm understanding correctly that's what you had.

Congrats on the DHR. They seem very good on paper.
