New Old Twin!!

It is alive!

I can't hear it so you must not be playing it loud enough! Try the MV and channel volumes on 10, guitar volume rolled back...at first...then see if you can crack any walls!

Okay, the plan is... going round the techs on Saturday with the JBL's... put them in... pop the amp in the box.... throw ourselves down the stairs hoping that our bodies protect the amp.... and preseto.... Twin Reverb....

I wonder if a post phase inverter master volume would be useful on this bad boy. My SF Bassman gets some pretty awesome vintage crunchy tones thanks to that easy mod. Honestly makes the amp so much more usable.

We're not gonna do any mods just yet. But I'm totally game in future.

That will mess with the NFB and possibly the UL feedback. I do not recommend PPIMV's on most amps these days as we have much better options to control volume.

It works fine and you can turn it up all the way to remove it from the circuit.

If other options are attenuators and the like, nobody wants to drag around extra attenuation hardware.

It sounds really nice! Really clean, but also I do kinda like it when you push the channel volume a bit harder to get a bit of bite.

Currently, the tubes are a bit tired. I've not forked out for a new set of everything yet. I've got some NOS Mullards kicking about that I got off eBay last year, so thought about throwing them into it. I need some good 6L6's at some point. Right now there's a matched-as-close-as-can-be quad in there.

The bad news: One of the JBL's isn't working. I think it is just a disconnected terminal wire on the inside of the frame. I don't really know how to fix that, but my tech knows a guy who repairs speakers. So I might look into that.

I played it through a cab with Greenbacks and loved it!

While you wait for the speaker repair...

Pull two power tubes (one from the left pair, one from the right pair) and run it on one speaker. It should still be loud enough for home practice.

I threw a punt on this the other week and totally forgot about it. £312. Guy reckons it worked the last time he used it, but he's selling it for parts. I'll get it back up and running with my amp tech, and start a Mono cover band!

Did you just pass the 40 year mark in age, Orv? If so, then this purchase makes perfect sense.

Next up, a Telecaster and a Lap Steel.
