New JHS Kit Pedal Release Monday

I don't remember the details but basically two other circuits that predated it. Keep in mind NONE of the content of any of them was protectable IP because of prior art that has been in the public domain for decades or forever. IP law allows that type of copying for good reasons.

I know how prior art with pedals works, however, it's still shitty to stick her design in a box for another artist, make money on it, call her a liar when she calls you out and then try to have her dealers cut her off because you're a bigger company with more sway over the dealers.

Do you actually know which pedals her design was based off or is this just something you read on the internet? I've looked at the schematic and it's got common fuzz themes but I'm not seeing a clone of anything particular in there.

After going down the Devi Ever rabbit hole I came out finding myself unable to trust a single thing that person says as fact. It all seemed far more like “Let me grab whatever I can say to make my case and hopefully it sticks more than me fucking over people has”

I haven't looked in years, but someone did a section by section breakdown of it at the time. Nothing proprietary to be complaining about. I really don't care about either of them enough to go look.

Oh she's a piece of crap no doubt but she still produced some pretty interesting fuzz schematics. Too bad she's a mentalist and thief.

There was a rumour going round that it was an ampeg scrambler build but that was pretty much nonsense. It's based on two of her other fuzzes cascaded into each other.

I’ve built many pedals. Never one that was premade or designed by someone else though.

The only mildly difficult thing in a NOTAKLON kit was breaking the board pieces apart. The rest of it could easily be done by a 10 year old in a matter of minutes. It is closer to screwing in a few lightbulbs than it is to building a real pedal kit. Not exaggerating at all!

I don't know who is screwing them up, but YIKES!

You can ruin a ruining cable by inserting it wrong though. I think that was the whole issue.

And congratulations on your pedal builds. I’m always happy to see someone make one.

Looks like a cool pedal to me. I didn’t buy one, not something I need. The clean circuit is a good idea though, I’ve done something similar before with a compressor to try to squeeze a pedal switchable clean tone out of a crunchy amp when I wanted an immediate switch instead of rolling my guitar volume down. It’s pretty handy.

D

The first 5,000 have sold out.
Next Monday for the next batch.

Total Brett & Sadie Kingman vibe, are those Josh's kids?

Note: Brett is my favorite pedal demo 🎸 dude, ever!

Edit: I had a G*A*S attack just based on the nostalgic spirit of that JHS promo (I've already got enough FX for 1000 lifetimes) ~ Josh came *so* dern close to reelin' me in! 🐡

Brett is the reason I bought the Axe-FX, he had a short FM3 video and whipped up a killer Marshall tone in like 3 minutes, way better than I ever got out of my Helix in three years. That sold me.
There are some "he makes everything sound good" people I don't bother watching. Pete Thorn being one of those definitely. Kingman for whatever reason has that ability but he also has that unassuming personality that comes across and then his tones are always just effortlessly amazing.

Kingman is so underrated on the YTs. Killer player, killer sounds always.
Whenever a pedal catches my attention, I always head straight to Brett's channel, if he hasn't demoed it I usually lose interest, quickly...

I dunno if it's happened, but Brett & Leon should *seriously* get together for a shootout/jam, can you imagine the views?

If you're reading this Brett; thank you! All the *best* to you & your girls (y)

All respect to Pete, but there's a distinct difference between a "production" vs. a "demo".
