Picked up one of these a couple weeks ago. It's the first Badcat I've played and honestly got it for the compact size along with their reputation as good amps.
Build quality seems excellent. It's heavy and sturdy for it's size. I've had two smaller el84 amps before so I'm pretty calibrated to the sound, and I'd say it is true that these don't have the "big boy" punch the bigger amps have, but I'm alright with that for bedroom jamming. One thing I don't like though is how everything resets when you turn the amp off and on. Because it has the spring switches (not the directional ones) if you select 1watt it will go back to full volume when turning the amp on again, so make sure you turn down the master volume when you're done playing. Apart from that it seems very well designed. Lots of versatility although modern gain is hard to achieve without a pedal. I have not tried the direct out. I think it sits pretty equal with the Orange Dark Terror sonically, but way more features.
