Do it! It's not that difficult if you have the tools. Applying tolex well requires some practice.

I used to do high end cabinetry - the casing is within my skill set and I have the tools (minus any specialty tools with applying tolex)

that looks downright approachable controls wise. ill haveta give a newer mark a whip- theyre way more than id ever need, but id check it!

That Mid Boost control on the top channel is pretty awesome.

does the clean channel run hot get into dirt by itself on fat or clean, or do you haveta run it into crunch mode?

and does crunch mode kinda re-eq the channel more marshally? sorry if these are dumb questions- my marks from 1981

Tolex just needs the glue. Mojotone sells it in the US, Tube Town in EU.

I didn't use anything special for the Bogner headshell I built, just an exacto knife to cut it and a paint roller to push it down evenly. Linoleum roller would be better but I didn't want to buy one.

Uncle Doug has good videos on how to do the corners neatly, Zilla Cabs also recently had some build videos.

Clean mode can run hot and break up without using crunch for sure. Fat is really nice for that. I would also agree that crunch sounds more Marshally but I’m not sure about the re-eq thing. You can also get break up/blues tones out of channel 2. The manual cautions against thinking of them as “clean and lead” channels because they’re so versatile.

oh for sure. i ran my old calibers either dead clean or just blew the power sections up running them super hot,and never used the lead channels

interesting.. i definitely need to meet these critters- i havent played later than an early mark iv in a long long time and gads.. that was near when they first came- out early 90s. nobody in my immediate circle has even owned a mesa except for a bass 400.

I guess it’s $200 for a wicker grille replacement for the V:35. Fuck it I think I’m ordering it in a month or two.

So far I’ve put my Majesty, my PRS Hollowbody and my Schecter Damien 7 string. The PRS sounds best with cleans and tamed lead tones - the 7 kills with cleans as well as excels in gain - my Majesty despite being the most expensive feels the least inspiring through this amp, which feels like it reacts very differently depending on pickups - my playing style and gain choices tend to favor my 7 string and Hollowbody vs the Majesty for tones in this amp.

Not really clean, but that breakup gainy blues tone (I’m using a single coil here) I normally wouldn’t use channel 2 like this but it can be tamed quite a bit
