My Room Measurements Thread

I can't remove the kitchen or bathroom

I think you spelled "vocal booth" wrong. :D

Nice work so far! I think your dip in the 70-80 hz range may be ceiling height related. Some thick rock wool above the desk, speakers and in the ceiling to wall corners may help. Or you could vault the ceiling.

Right, so as Ed alluded to, I got some new speaker stands. I previously had a cheap pair of Gear4Music stands. They did the job, but they were wobbly and very light weight. I found a used pair of Ultimate Support MS100B stands on eBay, and decided to get them. They were already filled with sand when I got them, so that saved me a job.

Here are the measurements of old stands versus new stands.

Quite an improvement all told. You can see several dips in the old stand measurements that have either been completely eradicated (500hz and above in the left speaker!) or have otherwise been calmed down significantly.

The 70-90hz SBIR dip is still there, but has changed somewhat, restoring a little bit of content in that region.

Heavy stands FTW.

So.... empty room left and right:

With new stands, and panels to handle reflection points (sides and ceiling now) ... left and right:

Any thoughts on stand height and relative distance from the floor and the ceiling, @MirrorProfiles ??
check where the acoustic centre of the speakers is (should begin the manual), and put the height of the speakers so that it’s at the same height as your ears. It’s really important so that frequencies reach you in time as they’re supposed to
