Anyone have good luck with a particular bit of software for making music videos? Really don’t want anything AI and/or owned by bad actors.

I don’t mind buying the prog/app as long as it’s within reason.

Also know myself well enough that if there’s a steep learning curve, I’ll likely bail on it.

Recs?

I am not sure exactly what you are looking to do so this may not be an accurate reply. I have been playing with this a bit. I am playing with recording videos in my studio / office. I am using a combination of OBS, Logic and depending on what I feel the need to do to the video, Final Cut Pro. I have not found a single piece of software that will let you do everything in a one stop solution. I was up for buying one but haven't found anything that can do it. There is definitely a gap in the software market in that field. It seems that everyone that is making professional level stuff is using two or three software applications in their process.

Pretty much what Ive been finding as well.

For clarification, Im looking to make music videos, like MTV not influencer or YT product demo or the like. Granted, Im pretty sure a solid bit of software that could do one of those things could do them all.

If Forbidden and other bands are making AI videos; I honestly would not worry about it and just use that vs. trying to reinvent a wheel that is going to be a complete trudge using stock footage that probably isn't going to fit your vision no matter how you slice it.

The Forbidden boys should know better… but maybe they figure if people steal from them they’re ok stealing from others… 🤷‍♂️

I installed Davinci Resolve on my Mac today. I also got some time to play with Final Cut Pro more. I don't know that I will use DR much not that I have figured out more in FCP. My original intent was to use Logic and Final Cut Pro together and that looks like that is going to be the combination for me. The bonus of using these two is that all of the updates are free.

For FCP, did you just goof around with it or take some form of structured tutorial/training? I have it, but feels like a really steep learning curve every time I open it.

My biggest issue was that I didn't understand how to start the process. I just did a search on YouTube and found a few videos that said they were a 101 level or for beginners. Once I saw how a few different people were setting things up that clicked for me and I was on my way. The difference one day can make...

Thanks. Time to roll up my sleeves.

I am more than willing to help shortcut the process if I can. It has been interesting as well as frustrating getting started. I put my first video up on YouTube this week. The next day I started playing around with it more because there was some things I didn't like about it. I was able to improve both the audio and video by quite a bit and have a version that looks and sounds a lot better. I didn't want to kill the one I put up because it is getting some views. I would have to delete it and upload a new video. It won't let you update it. I just decided to leave it there. People can be impressed at how much better the next one is whenever that happens.

Ok, I put in about 7 hours today and have a video that really makes me happy to watch. Thanks for the encouragement.

And thanks to @2112 for the Pexels tip. That’s a gamechanger for sure. \m/
