Music listening/streaming devices that aren’t a phone

My uncle was asking me last night what he can use to listen to music that isn’t his phone. Let’s pretend for this discussion that phones and subscriptions don’t exist, as he can be a bit of a “I hate technology!” type and already shot down my advice to download Spotify on his phone. :rofl

Last thing I knew of was the iPod, is there anything else out there?

Every car I've ever bought came with a free radio!

That doesn't leave much. You need some sort of tech to listen to music on, which I'm sure you know. I D/L songs from YT onto my phone using 4K youtube to mp3. It's fast, and free for up to 14 d/l's per day. At work I Blue Tooth it to this:

Lately I've been finding entire albums that only count as 1 D/L, so it doesn't take me much time to keep my playlists quite varied.

Or there's plenty of these available...

You kid, but Sony did release a new "walkman" for high res audio:

There's a whole niche of these for audiophiles:

This. I have the Fiio M11 Plus and M23 and they’re fantastic.

Portable?

Portable?

Yep.

I don’t think he’s going to able to avoid technology as much as he wants to. I think I have an older iPhone I’m going to hook him up with and just get him Apple Music. The dude gave me my first guitar and taught me everything when I started, the least I can do is get music back in his ears.

Probably the least painful option. Way to be a good dude, dude!🤘

It's important to note that if it's not a phone, it won't be able to stream. At least not if you're off WiFi. Streaming requires an active network connection.

So is that he wants a non-phone streaming device (so he can listen to Spotify or Amazon Music or whatever), or a device that can play music without a streaming music subscription (so he can listen to MP3s and FLACs and such)?
