Mouldy Speakers. MOULDY PULSONIC CONES. Bad.

Yep, I'm not discounting your suggestion by any stretch @Chocol8 (also your avatar is making me long for a choc bunny), I just want to be totally sure of applying alcohol to the old speakers before doing it because I only get one shot. The dabs of the damp cloth, you could see the moisture vanishing in seconds as I was working in a nice dry room so it felt like a safe way to start the process and remove the stuff that was going to help it spread across the cone.

I totally understand the caution. Just want to warn you that the bulk of the mold is what you probably can't see, so it can still be growing and the visible parts will return. Mold is nasty stuff!

Keep in mind if there is mold on the speakers, there are probably mold spores in the cab. Once you have the speakers out, I would suggest hitting the cab also. Seeing it is an AC30, you will have to take everything apart to get to the speakers anyway.
