So apparently real users of Facebook and Instagram isn't enough to keep the the platforms viable. :rofl
A bot is one thing, but this is an actual business plan they want to incorporate. Not that they haven't secretly tried it already I'd imagine, but how is any of this a good thing? I haven't used the platforms in years just thought it was kind of a weird thing someone sent me.

I'm about ready to abandon FB on account of my password getting hacked every 2 fucking weeks and getting a ton of texts from friends asking me why I'm selling shirts all of a sudden. Just happened today, 3rd time in 6 weeks. Using a password I have not entered/used anywhere else.

I can't keep up with fucking passwords anymore. Everything we do at work forces a password change monthly now and I ran out of crude-but-memorable phrases to use.

I honestly don't think anyone will notice a difference. Social media is filled with so many bots now, sometimes I wonder how many actual human users are on Reddit. Not that there's a ton of difference between a bot and your standard Redditor, both have no knowledge of leaving the house or social interactions.

Yeah, sounds like it's time Drew.
I stopped using FB around 13 yrs ago, and the only reason I joined initially was because of a band I was in at the time. I do have an X account so I can follow certain things a few "influencers" that I'm close friends with do. Rarely do I ever post though.

Thanks for the inspiration! Here are my thoughts (in song of course - 14 minute write time) ;~))

Fake X - Copyright December 30, 2024 - ANO Publishing, LLC - All Rights Reserved

<Verse 1>
Fake news
Fake views
Fake art
And that's just a start

Fake lies
Fake cries
Fake rage
From a golden cage

<Chorus>
When every little thing
Don't seem quite right
And you have trouble sleepin'
Every night

Take a step back and
See the way
They manipulate your thoughts
Each and every day

<Verse 2>
Fake fun
Fake tits
Fake faces
From the tucks and lifts

Fake food
Fake songs
Fake people
Tellin' you that your wrong

<Chorus>
When every little thing
Don't seem quite right
And you have trouble sleepin'
Every night

Take a step back and
See the way
They manipulate your thoughts
Each and every day

<Bridge>
If you can not
Shake the hand
Of that digital opinion
Understand
It may not be
Any more real
Than the Hollywood
CGI thrill pill

<Verse 3>
Fake leaders
Fake trends
Fake reasons
To make your logic bend

Fake prophets
Fake dreams
Fake money
In crypto cyber schemes

<Chorus>
When every little thing
Don't seem quite right
And you have trouble sleepin'
Every night

Take a step back and
See the way
They manipulate your thoughts
Each and every day

When every body seems
To be in a fight
Over one or another
Fake generated right

Disconnect
From their power grid
Where they control your life
You'll be glad you did

I actually generally enjoy my FB feed, it's curated down to just guitar shit and local music stuff. I also know once I leave it, there's about 30% of my family I'll never hear/see a peep about.

Like everything in life (including virtual online life) you have to filter through the bs and find the things that give you happiness and hopefully some inspiration. There's more bs to wade through then there used to be, but there's also some great stuff too. It's a balancing act.

:rofl

It's more like fishing through your turds in the toilet to try and find the
food you ate yesterday because you are hungry now. :bonk

I am biased, but the great erosion of mental health is directly proportional
the the amount of time we spend fishing through yesterday's food in the
social media toilets of today. :crazy

Haha! That's me. Not as long ago as you, though. I am a novice---with only 6-7 years of
stout and devout abstinence. I hope to remain this way the rest of my life---unless we rescue
another Cat. Then all bets are off. :LOL:

Well, that's like saying all the time and years on guitar forums has been an erosion of your mental health? Maybe it has :LOL:, but it does sound a bit pessimistic? At the eod you have the power to pick and choose what you consume.

Cat vids are the only reason the internet and social media has survived this long. Let's be real.:rofl

I'm just not that sociable to be honest. Virtual or otherwise. I mean, I love people generally, but I'm definitely more introverted in day to day life. I like a certain amount of solitude. The older I get the less I like crowds too.

Mate, you need a proper password manager. 1Password is the best in the business, cheaper/free options are e.g Apple Passwords or Bitwarden.

Then you set an auto-generated, unique password in every service.

If your FB keeps getting hacked, you don't have enough security measures in place, or might have malware on your computer. At minimum I'd enable 2 factor authentication. This can be easily set up with a password manager where the manager stores the 2FA and can show you the one-time password you need to enter together with your login user/password.
