I had an amg c class as a company car about 8 years ago. It was brilliant and also the worst car I've ever had. When it worked I loved it, it was quiet when you wanted it to be, comfortable for long journeys but also handled nicely and was really quick when you wanted it to be but it spent more time in the garage than it did on the road.

It would dump out it's gearbox or power steering fluid for literally no reason. I got stranded hundreds of miles away from home more times than I can remember and had to check myself into a hotel until a hire car turned up.

We called it Lame-o. We had some good memories in Lame-o and for some reason we still think of him fondly. Cars are weird like that.

But besides Porsche etc (which is a level above) they are just the nicest looking cars (Mercedes, Audi, BMW)

Maybe Volvo fits the bill but we just sold that one.

I get the allure. I rented a brand new Mercedes E class shooting brake when in the UK last year. It was a diesel and the handling was fantastic. I would love to own one.

Buuut, I do not have the mechanical knowledge nor the tools to fix it/maintain it myself, and the fun would likely wane after the first $1,000 service appointment for an oil change.
