Marshall 8100

There was a cool Triple Rectifier & Marshall 8100 thing happening for a bit in the mid 90s and early 2000s.

White Zombie used that combination on Astro Creep and Static-X on Wisconsin Death Trip.

It’s pretty distinct and I think a neat sound. The 8100 is SUPER tight and percussive. I can see how it would work well with a Recto.

This is one amp I've always been turned off by because everyone loves it for Death Metal and I hate Death Metal tones... But then I started recently hearing people use them for more modern tones and I wish I'd bought one when you could get them for $100 on Craigslist :rofl

I've played countless gigs in the 90s and early 00s with an 8080, the 80W combo version of the same circuit.

Used to run in it with an ART rack multi FX (multiverb alpha) in the loop or, later, used it as a personal monitor while running a Line pod 2.0 direct to the FOH.

I still have it, still works (as far as I know).

I briefly used it at home for practice around 10 years ago. That's the last time I've turned it on.

I won't say I loved it or liked it that much but served me well, we grew up together, that's why is still with me.

I’ve had this 8200 for decades, purchased new back in the 90’s. I gigged it for years, but then it stopped working so I just stored it and had forgotten about it.

Got it working recently, sounds pretty good but still prefer my Mark V90 for when I do play metal tones from time to time.

It was actually all three on the album. I forgot about the Randalls, thanks for the reminder. From what I’ve read he didn’t use the valvestate on tour, just the studio.

Kind of a fun related video.

I had the VS232, 2x12 combo back around '96 or '97. Used it as a clean platform. :grin
Worked well enough!
