Mad Album Cover Censorship ?

I hereby declare, in a completely apolitical manner, that I am in favour of more nudity everywhere.

Uh, most people are too old, too fat, too ugly, the wrong gender, or under age, and should therefore not be seen nude in most places. Trust me, I have learned from experience that the VAST majority of people who chose to go nude in public should not!

The ones you want to see, like the album cover girl, tend to want to be paid for removing their clothes.

We’re already in the grey area when the word ‘censored’ gets thrown into the mix, because it brings implications into the discussion.

"it wasn't a glove, believe me"

as an observation i remember from a uni course, one of the biggest drivers in US album cover censorship was that in the US, Walmart (specifically) and other department stores (used to) promote and sell recorded music, which was until this century sort of a US-specific thing. In the UK or Europe you would have to actually go into an HMV or something. So 'offensive' covers were 'out in public' in the US in a way they weren't in other places, just because retail culture was different.
