In the USA when you could still go into a cinema and watch Deep Throat you had this 😳

Roger actually used British porn star

Linzi Drew for the cover.

You can only talk about the subject not about your countries rights .🤣

Hmm, it would appear that the subject was commenting on how America differs from the rest of the world as far as how it dealt with an album cover 40 years ago. I was just following your lead to mention one other way America differs from the rest of the world. :knit

In the interest of pure discussion of the history of music censorship, NOT fucking politics you twats, was the reason this album was censored based on a U.S. law, or was it because of the record label’s decision?

It’s generally the labels that get squeamish, though the PMRC was going hard and heavy in the mid eighties.

Yeah that was my point I guess. I know about that history, people getting all upset about that shit (which really kind of “started” with Elvis anyway and boiled over eventually) But it’s like how Wal Mart won’t sell explicit albums, that isn’t a U.S. mandated choice it’s a private company making their own decision

I was a teenager in the eighties, so the whole PMRC thing was a huge talking point among my friends and I. The funniest part is that albums that got slapped with the parental advisory sticker wound up getting a huge bump in sales as a result.

Not based on US law.
People get very confused about where 1st amendment protections begin and end and I don’t understand why lol

It’s like if @DrewJD82 decides to block someone here cuz they say some stupid shit - that is not a breach on 1st amendment rights. If the United States came in and mandated that we couldn’t say cuck on this site, it WOULD be a breach of the 1st amendment 😂

Correct. The First Amendment protects American citizens from persecution from the government for things they say. It does not give anybody free reign to break the rules on a privately owned Internet forum, because it would be Drew and The Colonel busting your ass, not the federal government.

I like to say it like this as well for the real dumb fucks:

“If I put a whiteboard in my backyard, I own the whiteboard and I own the yard, and I allow the public to enter my property and write things on that whiteboard but with certain rules, I AM THE KING OF THAT WHITEBOARD” if you write “I hate trees” and I specifically stated that you cannot say anything negative about trees, I can kick your ass off of my property and erase your whiteboard entry

😂
