I've lately started creating my own solos using Boss RC-5. I'm having trouble hearing my solos over the rythyms I create.

I'm new to this so I'm missing something simple I'm sure.

How do I make my solos stand out?

I don’t have an RC-5 but every looper I have owned has had a volume control to turn the loop level up or down.

The other option, which I use far more often, is to record the loop with the guitar or signal chain turned down a bit and then turn up the guitar volume or step on a boost pedals for the solo just like you would in a band context.

IMO that's the best solution.
Turning the loop level down often results in some stuff not being loud enough. I may for example play a louder low part (or even use an octaver as a faux bass) or simulate some percussion, etc. - wouldn't like it to be dimed down on playback.
