Logic punch in cycle

I wonder if im doing something wrong.

I can record several takes in loop mode but when finishing a track that can be a bit of a pain when you only need 1-2 parts/notes.

So punch in is great.
However this time i wanted to do a small part and somehow i can't get logic to keep recording.
It works the first run including hearing myself via monitoring but the next run it won't record.

When i look online some people claim it should work and others say it's a limitation which sounds weird seeing they would limit to one run only.

Do you have the loop button engaged to loop the section back repeatedly? If it’s not automatically giving you another audio track under the original one, something must have gotten de-selected somewhere. I can’t remember what Logic’s name for their comp/punch in UI is called but someone here likely does.

I can do loop recording that's no problem and it will do different takes for comping.

I always try to run a track fully through but need some punch in where i can hear the recording a few bars before the moment. If i use the punch in it will record once and after there just keeps looping with playback.

Switching to full loop again no problem.
It's weird if this is really supposed to be so

It has been ages since I did that, but I think that was what it did when I tried that as well. I generally don’t use looping when I am using autopunch any more, and I think that may have been the reason I stopped trying that. Been quite some time and I don’t remember all of the details, but it just seemed like it didn’t work the way I expected and I couldn’t find a setting to change it.
