Pretty damn cool that they’ve added ACTUAL Quantec QRS and yardstick plugins in this update. Probably the first time ever stock reverbs have included classic algorithms from hardware like this.

I don’t use Logic often but i’m curious to try these (I have Relab’s QuantX which is a model of the QRS which has been awesome so Logic users should be excited)

I've been thinking about getting back into Logic, during the couple years I spent going to audio engineering school (that didn't pan out lolol) Logic was my go to. Looks like Logic is a heck of a lot cheaper now than it used to be too

I don't do a whole lot in terms of using DAWs these days, so just running Reaper for random stuff here and there. I sure miss the UI of Logic thats for sure

I just used Amp Designer for the first time in years. Its game has changed. Uh. Wow. Its not perfect, but...I'd be tooooootally fine using that for most recording purposes.

I'm in the same boat, but every time I fire up Reaper I feel like this:

Why do I need to use a key command to drag an audio clip to the left? And what was that key command again..off to YouTube and now I've lost the motivation to muck with it. I know I can customize everything but I don't want to.

At some point I'm finally going to give in and get Logic...

GarageBand not enough?

Underwhelmed by the update. Sure, a decent internal reverb was overdue, but they didn't fix some pretty important issues (at least one bug really shows the lack of QA in Logic land these days...)
For me, plugin search might be the most important thing.

Fwiw, as far as the option to re-order mixer channels goes, this is just cosmetic, not functional. It's still linked to the main window's track order - and I'm sure pretty much everybody asking for this feature was actually (at least partially) wishing for an independent mixer window. And once you want to reorder busses, that action will automatically create a new (mandatory) track in your main window (you can of course use the hide function, but that might compromise some things...).

Also, regions on "None" tracks (which are a great helper in song organisation) don't display colors anymore. So if you used those (which I can highly recommend at least in addition to markers), you will likely want to reassign them as a folder track to get the region colors back.

And on a sidenote: Things in Apple land are proceeding every bit as Cassandra Franck has already been assuming. 11.1 now needs Sonoma as a minimal system requirement. That's just one "grace OS" behind Sequoia. For most earlier versions of Logic, it's typically been 2 OS versions, and a few years back it's even been 3 (and sometimes 4) versions. Might not mean much to whomever, but in case you need to use an up to date Logic version (for which there could be several good reasons, such as collaborating with others), you're essentially using an entire year of DAW lifespan.

Sounds like an excuse to buy a 24 slider hardware controller thingadoo-ey for $1200 so you don't have to spend $299 on Logic :pickle
So I spent an hour or so today messing with UA Luna…and it’s actually pretty good - has pretty much everything I need and is pretty intuitive - not a bad alternative for the Reaper refugees.
