Let’s say I’ve decided to sell three of my amps …

I’ve been looking up prices but everyone on reverb is a little bit crazy or dumb (undecided). How do I get real world pricing for my amps? They want like $1700 for what I’m thinking is more like an $800 amp.

For reference I’m selling the following:
Marshall Vintage Modern 2466 (100w)
Marshall JTM clone
1967 Fender Bassman (blackface)

I’ll also sell my Peavey 5150 (1992) or Hughes & Kettner Triamp mk 2 but I want top dollar for those two. I don’t really want to sell them but money talks.

I can’t speak to the JVM but that Bassman should get you $1500 easy assuming reasonable condition. I looked pretty hard at the 60s and 70s Bassman market before getting mine.

All correct values but many components replaced.

Totally worked. The value range is wide for the recently sold. Thanks. I’ll go with the low end.

That also gives me a range for the 2466.

Look at sold items on ebay and reverb. Look at currently listed items on both as well, local Facebook market, craigslist and used guitar center/music go round.

List a realistic price and lowest available if you want to sell faster but don't sell yourself short. Keep in mind prices have definitely gone up.

This is the kinda thing you take to GC and take what they offer you in cash and walk out grateful you didn't have to ship the thing. The others probably worth shipping, unless you've got a local-ish shop with a decent consignment system.

On the Peavey, I'd still just take it to GC and dump it -- walking out with cash and knowing its a done deal, off your hands, is worth not having to deal with the inquires; low ball offers; tire kickers, etc. on that kinda piece.

Does the Bassman have all original iron and the blue molded coupling caps? If so, it should fetch over $1000 and maybe $1500 but prices have been volatile with a lot of local variation, especially when you get into mods and replacement parts.

The transformers and choke are original. I did replace some of the blue caps because they were a little out of spec but i kept them with the rest of the replaced parts. Internet lore says they’re indestructible and stable but I’m not so certain.

What do you mean by “out of spec”? If the capacitance is off slightly, that is normal. If they leak DC, that is a failure and they need to be replaced.

Either way, the amp is worth less in the current market with them having been replaced.

Out of spec, not slightly. Beyond the tolerance.

Of all the resistors in the entire amplifier only 3 were within tolerance. I replaced them while I was replacing the others. Some of them crumbled in my fingers, like clay powder.

The blue cap replacement is reversible as i have them but I’d rather just let the new owner decide.
