LESSON: Guthrie Govan style legato shred lick

I haven’t had to do one but when I do, it’ll play and look just fine buddy 👌 I’ll try and make sure to reach out to you when I get that done eventually.
Actually that’s why I got started as a tech for my own gear. There is only a handful of people I would allow to work on my guitars ( other than me)
Here is my stainless steel refret;

Well I have done at least 10 since then but this was the last one for me.

Before I completely messed my hand up with a hand router in an accident I used to make high end furniture for the rich assholes that live in the suburbs of Boston - I understand that details matter fully which is probably why I can’t stand it when I pay someone money that I’ve worked hard to earn and I get back something that I could do if I put half my effort into it. Such is life!

Post a picture of the stainless steel refret you did then.

Lmao.

Not insecure at all..

Let's hear those legato licks @Eagle since that's what this thread was supposed to be about.

I'm all good with busting gearstubers balls when they do their driveby spam shit, but when a dude can play and he's imparting that information on others who most likely don't know the information already, that's a total different story. If buddy showed up with "How to play a A chord", again, different story.

I could hear this lick in a Guthrie, Nick Johnson, Tom Quale, Ian Thornley, etc lead and anyone who is a fan of those guys individually would most certainly be stoked to pick up the lick no matter who was titled in the video, but the fact that it's actually IN a Guthrie solo, I think more than qualifies it as being in the style of Guthrie Govan. Does he play a lot of licks that aren't his style? I mean, I know I tend to write leads using licks that are....my style.

@Eagle, you're a wealth of information that's greatly appreciated often times, but ya certainly take some swipes at people that leaves me scratching my head.

Funny coincidence that the Ibanez in my video actually has a SS refret too, so it's almost relevant, I suppose.

It's an Ibanez RG1XXV that I somehow got for what amounts to about 300 USD and it had gotten the refret at some point with a previous owner. Super comfy neck on it too.

Fwiw, I also happen to think that this particular pattern isn't exactly shouting "Govan!" - but who the f*** could even care? To take offense with the thread title? Meh, what a low blow.
It's a nice little lesson, pretty well explained - and that's all that counts.
