Interesting for sure. The 112 is an absolutely fantastic sounding cab. This little guy weighs just a touch over 20 pounds though, which might be appealing for some that thought the 112 was too heavy.

They can call it "feature packed" all they want and all day long, but as long as there's no second combo in, anything like that gets a hard pass from me.
Seriously, I have pretty often stumbled into situations when there was no dedicated monitor for me, so I'd usually just grab a DI box and a split signal from the keyboarder (typically what I need most on my monitor) and slap it into my own FR things. On the last gig it was similar, but there's been a free monitor path, just no wedge left. So I slapped that signal into my own monitor.
Etc. Happened more often than I could count. Not ideal of course - but better than no monitoring.
Should cost them almost next to nothing to add a second input (especially as there's an aux in anyway).

I once briefly played the old 12" one. Quite nice, but the same thing applies.
Add to this that by now I'm so used to monitor myself through kinda traditional FR wedges, I just don't need any "looks like a guitar cab" stuff anymore.

I get it. The guitar cab-like stuff just tends to feel less disconnected for me. Like, the QSC K10 sounds good, but feels odd. I know, nebulous terms.

If anything, I might be interested in a coaxial monitor one day. Have only tried a dB Flexsys 12" once, but with 17kg (37.4786lbs) I found it to be too heavy for the ocassional bike/hand trailer transport. And it wasn't all *that* much better than traditional 2-way wedges I've been playing through already. And besides, I'm astonishingly happy with the (by now rusty) Alto TS310 (night and day difference compared to the 210). Compared it to several others over the years (even arranged some scenarios that I could switch inmidst of gigs 2 times) and never missed much (one RCF I tried was pretty outstanding, though, but very heavy and expensive). Too bad the build quality isn't exactly great (scratchy pots with the heads falling of).

Anyhow, if I ever stumble over this Laney, I'll defenitely try it out.

I haven’t tried the Laney but I’ve noticed this with the Fender FR212 and the Hypersonic (more so than I did when I was testing the Line 6 PowerCab in FR mode). There’s definitely a slight perception of immediacy compared to my EV and Mackie powered speakers.

Yeah, I think it's the same deal. I'm not smart enough to know why, but there's definitely a difference that makes them more enjoyable. No digital shit? Maybe?

800. Apiece is a lot

I've been on the fence about getting the LFR 112 vs the new Tonex FR cab. I have a Barefaced cab that sounds great, but I'm tired of having to carry and set up a power amp just for band practices.

I feel like the Laney offerings are for people who gig, but only play in loud rock bands and are timid about having gone digital.
