Laney LF60 question

I have an old Laney LC30 which I bought when I was 14 30 years ago. The amp is in desperate need of new valves, I probably will change them. I'm also considering getting the LF60 instead as these days I'm basically a bedroom/home guitarist and not sure I want the hassle of valves going forward.

The thing I don't get is if this amp is all analogue and not a modelling amp, and it sounds so convincingly like valves then why wasn't it invented years ago? I'm not saying it doesn't sound like a valve amp, but in my head it just doesn't compute, all analogue, using components that have been around for donkeys years, surely someone would have come up with this design in the 60s or 70s and everyone would have been using them for years?

Like I said I'm not saying it can't and doesn't sound like a valve amp but can someone explain to me what they have done to make it sound this way and why this couldn't be done 50 years ago.

Tube amps haven't changed much either, basically. But like SS there have been a lot of refinements and modern additions that make them unique. SS can be really good, but they just don't hold up in the same way at high volumes (not that you need that), compared to their tube brethren, ime.
This Laney design looks pretty good, seems to have just enough features to keep most happy. Could be worth a look if you need something lower volume that can easily be moved around?
