KSR PA100/50R Rackmount Power Amp

And the recent prices I've seen on the LXII is about 200 higher. But I was just glancing around, maybe not the best price.

Yeah looks like $200 more. Still not terrible.

I just picked up the PA-100R. The load box feels like a resistive load. Sterile and stiff compared to my Fractal LB-2.
Yeah I am sure it's just a resistor to protect the amp when used without a cab. It would be nearly impossible for them to have a fully reactive load and tube power amp at the weight these units are.

Eh, this probably isn’t as big of a deal as I’m thinking. The two main reasons I want one are for running my FM9 through a tube power section and to be able to use plexi-style amps with an actual effects loop, as long as it doesn’t negatively effect anything in regard to the plexi/effects loop/real cab I’m fine.

I don't think this unit does that at all. It's not like a Fryette Station that provides a reactive load in the input stage. My understanding is that this load is in the output stage so you can use the power amp without a cab. It doesn't provide a load for external devices.

??

The Fryette Power Station 100 is 4lbs lighter than the KSR. Sure the PS100 load isn’t the best, but it’s more than a basic resistive load.

Nothing wrong with the Fryette load IMO. I've always managed to get it to sound/feel very close to whatever amp is connected. Flick the load switches to what sounds/feels closest to the amp direct, use presence/depth for further tweaking.

But yeah the KSR loadbox is not the same thing at all. It's likely a resistive load that is in use when no cab is connected.
