Just when you thought you'd seen it all...

There were no Les Pauls produced in 1965. 1960 was the last year for the traditional body shape, in 1961 Gibson released the new body style Les Paul, which was the SG. Les Paul (the man) hated the new guitar, and his name was removed from the model and it was rebranded the SG. So if that was made in 1965, it would have been the SG body style, which I don’t think can be reworked to look like the guitar he’s selling.

That's right! Good catch.

Here’s a thread with some good info from back when TOP was about guitars and such…

The beginning of the end. Lots of weird specs in the next few years but Gibson have always put out odd ball things and the QC has always been varied to be kind. Good musical instruments though in spite.

I have some awesome authentic Les Pauls, but Gibson has made plenty of dog :poop: from time-to-time.

Norlin clown-bursted boat anchors, among other boneheaded moves, even recently laminated RW & Richlite fretboards :wat

But that Magic Man LP is a whole level of special, sure hope the latest Gibson corp. pirates don't make a sig model :rofl

Now as far as T.O.P., @Frankencat & I remember the good ol' days when TGP was chock full of talent, trust, respect for The Community & a wealth of info second-to-none.

Ain't no bringin' back those days, we had no idea how good we had it...
