The first time I ever played onstage in front of an audience I played the rhythm part to this song with a buddy playing the lead part. He didn’t tell us what his plans were beforehand, but as we were getting onstage he got on the mic, dedicated the song to his crush and asked her to the prom and got so nervous in the process he absolutely butchered the song. The remainder of that school year we’d bust his balls by saying “Wanna go to prom with me? ERRRRR WEEEEEEEDDLE RRRBRRPPPPP” (mimicking out of tune guitar noises)
