Yeah, no thanks. Big, expensive for what it does, I already know footswitch location would drive me crazy.

I guess it’s the pedal to buy if you need to add delay to your vocals live?

Wait why tf is the footswitch behind the sliders??

Good question. That seems like a terrible design to me

According to them:

Why does it look like that!?

We designed the Troika with sliders like a small mixing console to give Jack White easy, real-time control of the unit in a live setting. The bypass switch is above the sliders to keep it out of the way of on-the-fly adjusting.

And to make sure you accidentally bump the sliders and mess up your settings every time you try to turn it on :rofl

Yeah seems like a performative layout specifically for Jack, but my bigger issue is I didn’t hear anything tonally that would justify the $350. Maybe the vocal functions are the appeal?

Yeah, I think it's designed specifically for his use case, which is not a use case a lot of JHS customers will actually relate to.

And tbh kind of agreed on the rest too. I mean the price is okay for a high quality mic preamp, but if you don't need that part... and most of the artists I know who are running vocals through delay effects live don't, and in fact many are purposefully using more lofi / analog-sounding delays (like the DBA Echo Master which is designed for the same use case, can clip on a mic stand, and has an FX loop) and preamps or like DMMs. And a good enough mini mic pre + a DMM will cost about the same (and that won't get up to 1 second, but it will have a lot more delay options). Or get a better mic pre + a Disaster Transport Legacy Reissue (very underrated and "playable", and goes for very cheap since it seems it didn't sell well)

I do like sliders though.

The more I think about it, the more it makes a lot more sense as a high quality (?) mic preamp that happens to have a delay effect in it, like when little mixers or audio interfaces have built-in send FX. idk it's really surprising they didn't make the delay aspect more interesting, even just a little bit. Maybe Jack wanted to keep it simple, but as it is it's their least feature rich delay effect and their most expensive.
