It's 7 O'clock. Are Playing Your Guitar Yet?

Nope. I played a gig on keys this afternoon and now I'm practicing my saxophone. Guitar, tomorrow maybe ;)

I started early.

Woke up, went to the gym, came back and played a little. Cleaned bathrooms, kitchen, floors, and have been back at it for another 4 hours by now?

Started staining my pergola this morning, then working the rest of the day. God I hope to play soon. In working hard on relaxed speed picking right now, and I feel like it's starting to come together. I'm finding the key to be to hold my picking hand at an angle that is not natural for me, where my wrist rests like I'm ready to knock on a door, and I palm mute at a totally different place than I ever have before.

Yup. I've changed a few things, and although it took some getting used to, it was certainly an improvement once that happened.

I did this for rhythm playing. After I had joined a band that gigged heavily I realized I was grinding down my index fingernail with my guitar strings until it bled. Holding my pick and strumming differently did the trick but I had to undo a lifetime of habit in a few weeks.

Of course I'm back at grinding down my fingers again!

Didn’t have time to play at all today, even though I desperately need to practice for several different rehearsals this week. Hopefully tomorrow…

My wife and I used to get up around 4-5pm, work though the night, run whatever errands we had to early in the morning, then go to bed. We eventually learned all our customers are day people, so we've made the transition to be awake mostly during the day, but it's a struggle. I only feel creative and like myself at night.
