No but Gibson tried a dark roast instead of rosewood. Almost everyone hated it. Torrified wood was a thing for house cladding before it was tried out in guitars. I would say it isn’t the stability fix all that it is sold as and darker wood roasts should be avoided as the wood becomes compromised structurally . Ironically it’s best feature is tone.Isn't the whole Roasted Maple thing a direct result of the Rosewood crisis a decade or so back???
Yep,It strips and cracks substantially easier than regular maple. It’s also not as inert as you would be led to believe. A perfect example of quarter sawn regular maple with carbon reinforcements is probably the best option from a engineering perspective but roasting is good for tone too.
