I have 2 guitars on order, out of which I will pick ONE, after extensive playtesting in the store. I have forever dreamt of owning an SG, for the following reasons:

1. Tony Iommi, Carlos Santana (some of my FIRST guitar heroes I worshipped)
2. I wanted a SLIM guitar with a hard-tail.
3. Unique tones (I have other single coil and humbucker and HSS options; This will fill a void that is gaping)
4. I need something LIKE a Les Paul, but not Les Paul
- Not a huge Les Paul Guitars fan; It's me, not the LP. (the weight, neck, feel, etc. just doesn't bring out my best)
5. I extensively tried out SGs recently, and I am completely in love.

Why did I narrow down to these 2 models?

1. Budget. Perfectly fits the bill.
2. SG Muse: Versatility: treble bleed (a must in my opinion , and I am not a fan of muffled lower volume pots), push-pull splits on both buckers, higher output Alnicos that split well, does modern and vintage stuff pretty well IMO; the colour/finish/aesthetics!
3. SG Special P90: The P90 pickups (I have only played p()s for 30 mins in my life, and see why people like them, but I dont have enough experience to make my own opinion yet; seems to have a lot of hype around P90s on the internet.. curious; rolled neck, CTS pots, filles a unique void (I dont have P90 guitars) that is in my collection at the moment)

Styles of music I play:
Rock (Deep Purple, Eagles), Metal (Metallica, Black Sabbath, Whitesnake, GnR), Classic Rock (Santana, Dire Straits, Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendrix), Modern Electric (Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Nili Brosch, EVH) etc. So it's a bit all over the place. I have other guitars that cover a lot of these genres (Ibanez JS100, Ibanez Jem Jr, Godin SD22 (LP/Strat/Tele Hybrid)).

Would love to know what you think?

Took an Epiphone SG Special P90 from L&M for a test drive today to get a feel for P90s.. Starting to get the gist, and starting to understand why people love it. It grows on you, and can start to get quite satisfying and addictive. Still a very different beast than single-coils or humbuckers.
