I changed out the grid stopper resistors on the input and added a capacitor to ground as mentioned in this article: http://www.valvewizard.co.uk/gridstopper.html
It really does lower the noise floor and i think it’s a worthwhile mod. It’s easy and reversible. I think it raises the gain a tiny smidge as well due to the lower resistance between the guitar and first stage. Give it try.
