And no it wasn't some review nor dodgy "scientific" measurement video. Today this happened:

Which is a lot of...

"Your creative work can be used to train their AI (..) you're literally training your own competition."
"They train their models on tens of millions of copyrighted songs (...) without permission."
"The company builds its entire product by taking art without consent."
"Suno is built (...) by people who see creation as a problem to be solved."
"Making our music with our own hands, our own voices, our own imperfection, is the greatest thing we can do as musicians."

...without a single hint of self-reflection from someone who, just months ago, was constantly uploading stuff like this:

I don't know why this particular leopards-ate-my-face moment made me so irrationally angry, to be honest. But i'm amazed no one called him out on it.

To date, I don’t think I’ve managed to reach the end of any of his videos. I’m always too annoyed, even if the video is about something I’m interested in.

The whole AI music thing is bullshit. It’s lame and it’s lazy but it’s what the world has become really.
With a few snippets of your voice and a picture of yourself, you can make AI fake videos that say everything from I’m guilty of a crime too. I’m an idiot to whatever you wanna say it’s known as deep fake and it’s rampant everywhere that’s AI and AI is only getting worse and it blurs the lines between reality and fakery
The same thing goes with music even movies. They’re all AI generated Scripts much of the time.

Been thinking about it, and it's the naked hypocrisy of his rant what got me. Apparently AI stealing creators content is only a problem when is your art on the line.

Sorry for the vent y'all.

SUNO Sucks.

<shrug> In the last two or three months, AI went from being a running joke to quite good across the board. Scary good, actually. I'm kinda shaking my head at how quickly it happened.

Nothing is going to stop this. Certainly not a bunch of fish shaking copyright holders...even if they have a valid beef. It's gonna be the water we swim in from now on; might as well take advantage.

I goofed around with the most recent model of SUNO, and was surprised by how well it read my mind from fairly sparse prompts. It can be a good productivity enhancing tool depending on how you approach it. I'd never use it to one-click an entire song, though.

"Nothing is going to stop this” Lack of energy will!

I've decided to put my energy into making it benefit me. I'm actually excited about programming for the first time since the early/mid 90s.

I'm curious, though...what practical neo-Luddite tactics for roadblocking AI do you believe might work? I can't come up with any, and I've tried to think it through.

I use Gemini a lot in my day to day, especially with obscure tasks like mitigating some vulnerability.Yes, I’ll cross check what it’s saying but it gives me a huge head start on where to look and how to tackle my problem.

I am conflicted on the use of AI with music. Yes, I think plugging shit into SUNO and then calling yourself a musician isn’t creating art. However, I would fuckin love an AI drummer, I fucking suck at writing drums and it’s so tedious

Bang on. I think AI, like any tool, has potential for good or bad sh!t.

At the end of the day, it's down to human nature how those tools are used.

If it's there to help ease my workflow etc I'll use it. I think it's a fascinating topic but the ethical concerns (ie. IP theft really) would have honestly still been there even if AI wasn't a thing. The real problem is big tech training their models on stolen data, not giving credit to the authors etc.

Tool is the word for it. That’s it, it’s like a knife or a hammer or whatever - you can use that tool to make your life easier or not, but the hammer and knife are here to stay

Agreed on all of this.

And dude, you gotta believe Toontrack's next version of EZ Drummer or Superior will have it. They gotta.

@Lysander -- Did he post videos recently supporting A.I.?
Because I agree with the Suno video you posted. It is possible he had a change of heart and is coming to terms with that. I know that happened to me, but it was over A.I. art, because I was fascinated like most people over it but soon saw the ramifications. So I stopped using it. I've always been against the music A.I. stuff and wish people would stop feeding the monster.
