I Pulled The Trigger On A New Black Guitar.

I'm all about them $350 Indonesian guitars and $500 Vietnamese amps now... and then I try to buy burgers for the family and it's like a million dollars. :facepalm
I've had these same Indonesian Ibby Vs forever. They are great for my uses. I will eventually break out and rise above this sort of low middle of the road end I have stayed in for most of my guitar playing life but I definitely view them as tools first and foremost and not any sort of status symbol. Given they are chopped up like a sight impaired luthier did the work :cool::LOL:

Honestly, the longer I play the less I give a :poop: about having a high end guitar. Either way, you've got to play your way through a bunch of stuff to separate the wheat from the chaff and determine which instruments suit your personal taste, and by the time you've done that, paying another couple of grand for the QA somebody else did seems redundant.

Maybe I just don't know anything about guitars anymore. Maybe I've been playing crap for too long. :idk But I get a kick out of picking up something that does the job, knowing it was also a remarkable value.

There is nothing wrong with cheap if it’s basically worth what you’re paying but Epiphones are actually not cheap for what you actually get. That’s the point.

I'll admit, re: the one Epiphone I've ever purchased, I knew full well that some of the money was for "branding". But it's an Iommi signature SG and I wanted "the look" for a specific project. 24 frets, carved heel, bound ebony fretboard with custom inlays, etc. etc. Took me a long time to get it dialed in to where it would stay in tune, but all things considered, it still feels like plenty of guitar for $900 new.

There are a few made in Indonesia and Japan that are pretty good but the standard ones aren’t.
