I dont want to do 4cm...

Generally I don't 4cm. Generally - as in, usually, or typically, mainly, principally, most of the time - I just go straight into the front of the amp. Even with huge washy delays and praise and whoreship reverbs. Even when my amp is on the distortion channels. I just balance the feedback and mix knobs of various effects to get an epic wall of sound, but that still has clarity.

But lately I have been using my Axe3 in 4cm with the JVMJS, and I'm getting some fantastic sounds it has to be said. Putting spatial effects after distortion stages gives you a clearer and more precise sound, and sometimes it can work.

But usually - as in, generally - I like the chaos of just slamming the amp right in the front hole, like the crazy colonial manifest destiny type o' guy that I am.

Ok, maybe I'm not getting something. Parallel mode = analog dry through. Why would you lust for analogue dry through reverb and delay pedals?

This premise relies on me being rational. At least I'm going with I need different pedals because I don't like what this one is doing to my tone vs "ooh pink Ltd edition! Take my money bitches"

Man I want a Wh*re ship.

Edit. Why does the site censor Wh*re but not fuck?

In case you want a post-gain volume pedal (or any other typically 100% wet mangling, the volume pedal being most obvious, noise gates, EQs and compressors being further typical contenders), a parallel FX loop will not do the trick but analog dry through pedals still would.

I thought 4cm would make me happy but I realised I preferred the sound of my Marshall without my hx stomp in front of it so I switched to analogue pedals in the front and stomp in the loop. The stomp is now handling delay and reverbs but after using an a/b box in the loop I think I prefer my signal without the stomp at all.

I think some analogue dry through reverb and delay pedals will be incoming soon.

Ok I've spent some more time on this today and realised this was entirely user error on my part. Previously I had one FX send/return block on the stomp and everything set to instrument. Now I'm using the L send and R return with In and Send L set to instrument, Return R and Out set to Line and my JVMs loop set to line level.

I found I needed to bump up the output block by 3db to equalise the volume drop when I turn the JVMs loop on, now everything is the same volume and sounds great.

I checked it at no one at home fucking loud, there's people at home moderately loud and band rehearsal loud as fook levels.

I also complained in a different thread that my stomp doesn't take fuzz pedals very well into the front, I don't know what I was smoking but that's clearly bollocks too. My strat into my fuzz face into Klone through the stomp into my jvm was bloody great.

I just tried to 4cm for the first time, with the trick of switching my Stomps preamp and the amps preamp. I’m exhausted.

I never have tried that. Always just used my amp's pre-amp when using 4cm. Never tried 7cm either. In all honesty just 1 cable to the amp return is definitely good enough. Especially with the new HX amps.

The first time I've really bothered switching between the Helix amps and my preamp was A/Bing the new 2203 and the crunch channel on my jvm. Not sure I could be bothered most of the time. I'd probably just pick one.
