How many songs on a demo?

How many songs do you expect on a band’s demo?

Trying to decide how many to put on ours…

For booking purposes? I'd say 2 to 4. I also don't need to hear the whole song. No 8 minute Prog-splorations please!

Not specifically for booking, but more as a pre-release sort of thing. So we have music "out there" to start building an audience and to drum up interest from potential lead guitar players...
