How do you approach buying new guitars?

I start with the want, then if it meets a need, I buy.

Simple as that.

And a lot of times that leads to a sale (1 in 1 out sorta thing).

The need is anything from “this has different pickups and will sound a little different than that one” to “I really dig that - it would be perfect if I was in a (insert specific band/music creation situation)” which may or may not lead to starting said specific band/music creation situation to justify a purchase. 😂

Sold one of my more expensive ones recently, then had a need which led to buying 2 more.

Really the goal is to end up on an episode of Hoarders buried in guitars, basses and empty D’Adarrio packaging.

I've tried to have a big variety. A guitar for every flavor™ - if you will.

When I approach, I don't play games. I just walk up and ask if they're from around here... buy them a drink, and see how the night goes.
Gotta be careful though- if it’s one of those single coil delicacies, you have to be slow and silent or you’ll spook it. Then you just wasted a whole day sitting in a tree stand with nothing to show for it but another “one that got away” story.
