I remember those days fondly. alt.guitar.amps and such. Lord Valve really pissed a lot of people off. I actually ended up being IRL friends with someone there who was in upstate NY and we hung out a few times. I dont want to give up my handle just yet though...

Yeah, I also met several great people IRL from newsgroups, but every group I was a member of is long gone, dead, buried and forgotten.

I've gotta say, as an 18/19 y.o. on the most wired college campus in the country circa 93/94, my introduction to newsgroups had absolutely positively zero guitar gear content...
