Help with foam acoustic panel placement

Hi guys, I'm setting up the corner of my basement to be my little practice/recording oasis. It's not much, but it's what I have. I got a pack of those foam acoustic panels, and I want to be sure where would be the most effective placement. I've heard about using a mirror to determine where on the side walls they should go. I don't really have a side wall close on the right side. It's a good 20' away. I figured there would be people on here that know better than me.

What’s the ideal goal you’re hoping to achieve from them?

Unfortunately they’re not very effective for most problems and the best place to put them is the bin.

The main problem is they’re not effective at all on the low end and so won’t do anything to the main acoustic problems in the room. At best they can tame some high frequencies and flutter echoes, but this is easily done with treatment that is effective in other areas too. You can even drape blankets or fabric and they’ll be more effective at just dampening high frequencies.

Hard to tell too much about the size of the room from the photos but might want to think about the placement of the speakers as a free/effective place to start. Try and get the tweeters closer to ear height, and then have things symmetrical as far as wall distances between L+R. Looks like you have some spare stands there?

A google image search for “speaker placement” will give a ton of suggestions. It might be hard to achieve very much with the available space, so you may be better off relying on headphones for the most critical tasks
