I don't know much about guitar pedals, so this is super educational for me. I do often see people complaining that some of Helix's stomps are way too low output
Interesting! Thanks! Did you happen to test the levels of the pink noise through Helix with the Helix drive pedal block removed vs the pink noise going through the audio interface loop with the pedal removed or disabled? I'm assuming so, but I figured I'd ask just in case :) Thanks again!
Semi-related question, just out of curiosity since you have both pedals: is it true that the OD9 has higher output than the OD808? Maxon advertises as such, though your test seems to confirm that it does not when gain is all the way down at least. Not asking you to do another test haha, but just curious if you know :)

Right, I saw that. It was exactly the same across both pedals. It's interesting because if that holds accurate across the sweep of the Drive control, then Maxon's marketing (which is repeated in store listings) that the "absence of the FET switching circuit gives the OD-9 some added output and a slightly more open sound than the OD808" seems misleading, and general "forum wisdom" (ha) that the OD-9 is louder is untrue. Anyway, thanks again! Interesting stuff! I definitely didn't measure such differences when comparing my Plumes to the Pillars block, but that's also a much newer model, so it cool to find this out.
