Have we run out of ideas for noiseless single coils??

Bill Lawrence noiseless "singles" are pretty great IMO, even compared to real singles. I also have a Strat with Antiquities and Illtch back cover. It's a pretty nice setup, but I don't think the Illtch is as transparent as everyone claims.

That's a good call out...

I have two sets of his Microcoil pickups, one for Tele and one for Strat. They are really interesting pickups that are somewhere between vintage and hi-fi extended range pickups. True single coils but using stronger magnets and less wire, so it picks up less noise. I think I found in testing they were about half as noisy as true single coils but not as quiet as humbuckers.

I had his stacked noiseless pickups years ago but didn't jive with them, would actually like to try them again. Aaron at Warmoth who also posts at TGP has switched two of his guitars to these as well.

I also tried his rail pickups but the Strat ones are super bright/thin/low output and they aren't making higher output versions.

And speaking of noiseless, I ended up swapping back to the Area T set with hot bridge in my Tele today. I can't find pickups I love for this guitar I guess. Still need to dial in heights and all that.
