Harmonic tremolo

If I could only have one modulation effect, I think it would have to be harmonic tremolo. It is like a well behaved univibe that works in way more contexts. It can do the vocal wawa thing to a guitar solo that evokes a wah pedal without being obnoxious about it. Anyone else like harmonic tremolo? Which pedals do it best?

Both are awesome and sound incredible, but even though the Monumental is much more feature-rich, I prefer the vibe and mojo in the Harmonious Monk. :chef
 
I just don’t get a harmonic trem. The people that love them, LOVE them. I try them from time to time, but my reaction is always “I’d just use a univibe for that sound I think”.

My point isn’t to piss on your thread, more to ask what I’m missing. There’s something you guys love that the univibe doesn’t do as well, what is it? Maybe if I know what to listen for it will give me some new ideas on this.

I would find it odd for a person to feel like they needed one of each on a pedalboard, but I don't see why one wouldn't have a preference of one over the other, or pick a specific one within the digital world where you aren't adding more money/size/weight to your rig.

I am also a Univibe fan, but I prefer the harmonic tremolo because of its more subtle phase shift character.

They are similar, but to me a univibe does a very distinctive 60s Jimi Hendrix thing. A harmonic tremolo is just way more versatile IMO, and doesn’t automatically drag me into machine gun territory. It keeps the guitar tone more intact somehow. I don’t know if that even makes sense.
 
I have had a Strymon Flint v1 for years. It was the first Strymon pedal I purchased. The harmonic trem on it is great IMO. I also have a Univibe which is also great. I think I am more a vibe guy than trem tho TBH.
 
If anyone here is in Helix land, their harmonic Trem is IMO the best modulation in the unit. I use it a lot.

There’s a Deja Vibe on my board right now but I would not at all be surprised if it were replaced by a harmonic tremolo.

@gearJunkie you’re killing me, moreso my wallet. Do you have experience with all those trems you posted? You are about to send me down a rabbit hole.

Well I’m going to have to check some of these out. I’m already leaning Harmonious Monk because it’s such an incredible name, but need to hear more.

Any one in particular you think is reminiscent of the Helix Harmonic Trem? I’m usually using fairly subtle settings, no machine gun lasers or anything.

Yeah, I love the harmonic trem in helix, so chewy. That’s really my point of reference because I don’t own any physical harmonic trem pedals, but it’s good to know it is well regarded because I love how it sounds.

I like to combine it with retro reel for a little extra wobble. That combination beats a univibe for me any day, and I used to have a fulltone dejavibe that I loved.

I haven't compared the pedals side-by-side with the Helix, but if I could have only 1 pedal, the Harmonious Monk wins.
 
I can't stand playing with any kind of tremolo/vibrato effect really for some reason

I enjoy the sound of other people using them
