Metal is a big no as far as I’m concerned. I often get chips and dent repairs in caused by just putting the guitar down with a strap on that has metal on it.I’m in need of some new straps. My #1 rule for a strap is NO PLASTIC PARTS. All leather, or leather and metal only.
I once had the plastic part of a DiMarzio strap break during a show and send my Les Paul crashing down on top of my Helix. The LP got some new dents and chips and the Helix spent 2 weeks in the shop getting broken knobs/switches replaced.

This. My PRS S2 Custom is covered with many small dents in the finish because I realised too late that a metal part of the strap was constantly banging against it when I put the guitar down. Unfortunately, I only realised the problem very late and the dents look really shitty when you hold the guitar up to the light. Cotton strap with plastic parts for me, please.Metal is a big no as far as I’m concerned. Strap damage looks like shit.People pay big money to get those metal scratches ands dings on their relic guitars. I would rather buy the strap and play it to relic status.
