It’s not bad enough Friedman ruined Marshall tones now they have to ruin Vox?! ;)
I’ve played and tried a number of Friedman’s and they to my ear and tastes do not sound like what I think a good Marshall is. They are dull and lifeless compared to a great sounding Marshall. I did play one of the Plex amps when I bought my Suhr SL68 and it’s pretty nice and better than his others but yeah… I like some of Dave’s gear he makes but most of his amps don’t sound and feel that good IMHO. He can claim all day long he puts them on an amp switcher with his old 50 watt and it sounds same…. sure well then in that case his 50 watt isn’t that good.

the dirty Shirley is the only one I've ever been inspired by.

the BE et all are a really really refined marshal type sound and a honorable tribute to decades of hotrodded EL34 brutality, but they are obsessively compulsively filtered at so so many many many different points along the signal path to get that canned cream, that ultimately makes for a go cart type experience for me, still fun but a kind of retarded fun lol

TLDR: muted nuance
I need the hair on it :clint

The DS is not a bad amp too. Forgot about that one but yes.... his other amps are so filtered sounding and feeling. To be fair as a Suhr fan I think the PT line is similar in that has more filtering than I prefer but not near as bad as the Friedman stuff.

I think it sounds good, and I usually don't care for Friedman amps. As I understand it, the amp is called the VX30, and someone mentioned in another forum it was worked on by Mark Sampson as well as Friedman.

I don't know whether this is true; if so, I'm not surprised it sounds about right.
