Free Komplete 15 Select for you US folks.

So, you need to get all the permissions right then. And it's defenitely not just Native Instrument's fault.
Anyhow, it defenitely works. You could have a look at Gatekeeper and whether something from NI requiring permission is showing up there.
Yeah, but there’s no reason for it to need full disk permission. Everything else from every other company just loads up and is automatically available in Logic Pro. I quit IT and programming work in 2010 and I just don’t have the stomach for this stuff anymore.

Well, depends. It's installing lots of samples, some plist files and what not.
Add to this that pretty much everybody in DAW land has one or the other NI product installed - and it always seems to work without them being hacked or otherwise compromised.
But then, nobody's forcing you to install things.

Sounds like a Trojan Horse.

Defenitely not. As said, if any company, NI has got to be among those with the biggest popularity among DAW users of all kinds, high end production facilities included. Their Kontakt still pretty much defines as the standard of software sampling, each and every Hollywood composer is at least using a bunch of libraries based on Kontakt.
IOW: If their stuff would include malware or otherwise compromise your system (such as in generally slowing it down or so), that'd be known all over the places and nobody would be using their stuff anymore.

There's several reasons to not like NI (*check*), especially in case you're a Mac user (*check*) as the combination of Apple to permanently redefine their "standards" (hence cutting off backwards compatibility as if there was no tomorrow all the time) and NI dropping support for older products just as often can be an absolute nightmare to deal with (*check*). But security issues have never been among any complaints.

So, in case you still decide to not use this package, fine. But it's likely rather your loss than theirs.

Actually NI are doing quite badly right now. Everyone has severe Kontakt fatigue, and sample producers are moving away from it.

I know. And I welcome it every bit after being f***ed right up the arse by NI quite some times already. Sure, lots of it has to do with me being enough of an idiot to use a Mac, but still, other vendors have their support duties in check much, much better, whereas NI is abandoning soft- and hardware all the time.
Machine MkI, Kore Kontrol, Rig Kontrol Mk2 - all of them gathering dust somewhere in the basement.
Add to this the almost countless plugins they have simply kicked out for no apparent reason.
And add to this that even the still supported plugins sometimes are kinda denying human evolution. As mentioned already, their "upgrade" from Battery 3 to 4 has simply been shockingly bad. The latest version of Reaktor is a shame, too, at least unter macOS/silicon.
And add to this that some of their core developers have already been leaving the sinking ship.

Still, some of their plugins remain immensely useful and for a freebie, this very Komplet Select package is tough to beat.

It was a free download, and I may mess with it at some point in the future.

But for now, Imma pass on it.

I only ask because UA had a freebie a while back that I took advantage of, and which
allowed them to backdoor my computer and inundate me with reams of crap on a
daily basis.

I've got quite some UA freebies and never experienced anything like that. Weird, especially as they're another quite big player.
