My brother became interested in these China made Firefly guitars. Some people seem to like them and say good things. He's got these 2 on the way.

The Tele-like one has an interesting compound 9.5"-14" radius, and the Languedoc copy cat Pegasus is upgraded to Seymour Duncan 59 pickups, locking tuners, and black knobs. Always wondered what a 25.5" scale with 14" radius feels like. Trey is not a very tall giant handed man so it's interesting that the axes made to his specs would have the radius of 14". Personally going down to my PRS's 10" radius from 12" on the Les Paul seems to have improved bar chord comfort for me. The intended design specification of the Firefly Pegasus is said to be a 12-inch radius, but users have perception of it being flatter.

I'll feel kind of dorky noodling on a Languedoc copy but am interested in trying it out. 😇

I don’t judge you for liking the Languedoc. The real one and the copies look cool and I think the strong association with Phish is unfortunate. Spec-wise the Languedoc seems close to a PRS (longer scale, pickup switching options, big nod to Gibson).

It's actually quite nice. Holds tune, intonated well, resonant and enjoyable to play. With the SD59's, locking tuners, and black knobs installed, the Reverb seller charged him $700. I have one shipping to me tomorrow from GuitarsGarden for like $307 shipped. Hopefully I luck out and get a good one. The 2025 versions have changed some, with improvements in the stock pups having been noted. Many people on YouTube are happy with many types of Fireflies and their QC is said by some to have improved over the last few years. They still do small drops of relatively few of each type. For $300 I couldn't avoid trying a buy of my own.

I almost picked up a Firefly Mad Cat on FBMP about a year ago just to try it but couldnt get the guy to come off $300 asking price.

If anything reared its head down the road or I wanted to do any upgrades, tuners, PU's etc., I could not justify it at $300. I offered $200 but that didnt work for him. At the $500-$600 all in with any upgrades, IMO, it opens up a lot more options in the used Tele market, so I passed.

I ended up with a Fender MII STD for $350 so all good for me. Still think about that one every now and then, lol...

I haven’t read about the Fireflys but old reviews of the Phred were that the wiring was noisy, to the point where Phred offered an upgraded wiring harness. That was many years ago, so who knows what’s changed, but I’m assuming it’s the same factory putting out every Languedoc copy.
Looking forward to hearing your review!

Bro's Firefly Tele came today. It is really nice. Like 9 pounds heavy. Roasted maple neck is great. Keeps tune. Locking tuners. Well intonated. Electronics work as they should and sounds good and twangy unplugged and not. My bro has high end Fenders including a David Gilmour custom Strat. Never been a flat top electric player as they just don't fit me, but I like this Firefly Tele better than his strats and his Ibanez TOD10 Tim Henson signature. I suppose the low price doesn't make these Fireflies much for status symbol trophy wife guitars, ;) , but so far what I've played is actually real good. I suspect that after some irregular drops of small batches at small prices, and ongoing Q.C. improvements, demand and supply will increase and price will follow. For such low prices they are worth taking a chance on if you see something you might like. The Pegasus dropped in 3 finishes Thursday and all were sold out 3.5 days later. Got 1 of my own soon to be on the way and I look forward to it.

Just wanted to put a FYI here so I wouldn't lead any1 astray, and so any browsers of this can get a more complete story.

Watching Reddit @ https://www.reddit.com/r/Fireflyguitars/ , Firefly seems kinda hot & cold hit & miss with their Quality Control. If u get a good 1 with all electronics right that tunes and intonates well, it's quite a little score for the $.

But like people getting theirs with missing knobs and stuff like that. Many people like to buy them for <$300 and immediately give them a workover, upgrade electronics etc.

I was lucky and got one that was totally right, and I just wanted to stick cheap black knobs on it. A fun guitar for sure.

This is a little rhythm loop & lead sample of said Firefly Pegasus guitar with stock electronics.

So, <$300, I didn't upgrade pups or anything, fun to play, holds good tune and intonated nice. I like it a lot for what I payed, but know that Firefly is a fringey fledgling little company. I can only vouch for them as far as getting a good one and seeing 2 more of a relatives that are nice, many others are happy, but a good handful of complaints as well.

Cheers.
