If you run EMG Pickups at 18v, is there a reason to try the X series equivalents? I run my guitars at 18v, so I'm curious if anyone knows or has any experience with this.
Is there really any difference between 9v and 18v in a system that rarely sees more than 1v? Is there any actual benefit? The headroom is irrelevant, isn’t it?
I do run my EMGs at 24v, just because, but I’m not convinced there’s a difference.
Concerning the X series, i think the active tone control may be worth the price of swapping.

The active tone control would not replace my SPC and EXG. I am a bit curious what the difference is between a passive 25k tone control with EMGs versus the active tone control version.
