DSM Simplifier DLX ..... need help with Schematic Flow ? ** SOLVED **

Hi all !

Locally a DSM Simplifier DLX has come up at a good price and am thinking of trying it out

Below is the official schematic

The unit is %100 Analog except for the Digital Reverb.

I want to use the TS Out [ into the loop of my Stomp ] and keep the Amp tones %100 Analog with no reverb so the digital reverb doesn't add any latency

Is it possible to tell from this schematic, if turning off the Reverb takes it totally out of the signal chain so the Digital Reverb doesn't add any latency ? and the pedal works %100 Analog and with zero latency with Reverb turned off ?

Well, as there seems to be no way for the signal to run around the reverb circuit, I'd say it all depends on how the reverb is switched internally - something you can't see in this schematic.
If you really wanted no additional latency from the Simplifier, you could of course use the send to run into the Stomp's return and use a cab/IR block from the Stomp (given you have a free block left).

Digital reverb does not have to add latency. Most delays and reverbs will tap the signal to its own path, process it, convert back to analog and mix it back with the analog dry signal.

Hm, that'd require a "dry through" function and not many devices in the more affordable range feature this. And it's usually mentioned somewhere in a spec sheet or manual (in case the company doesn't want to explicitely market it, which many do).

This is not a schematic, it's a signal flow chart that does not show the actual circuit, just the order of components in the chain.

So it's impossible to tell from this. Maybe email DSM and ask them.

As the designer, I'll like to chime in...The reverb is digital, but it is side-chained to the main signal, so no ADC/DAC gets in the way...Also, Channel A has a different clipping character than channel B, with a "cold clipper" stage, this makes it more aggressive and makes pinch harmonics jump out very nicely.

Thanks :) For a variety of [ non problematic ] reasons - I have bought it, but wont have it in hand until the end of May.

Cool. Im waiting on the used market for the small mk2 one. Pretty happy with the sound and feel from ACS1+YA IR as for now. The DLX thing makes me nervous with all the knobs and stuff

Yeah - if (?) it ends up being a keeper / my no. 1 ..... a photo will be taken once its dialed in so I wont have to guess where settings are at when playing :)
