Also, yes, I like bridge cleans as long as it has a tone knob. It's actually a somewhat recent development, though.

I still don't like single coil bridge cleans.

All that said I play Gibson guitars and my go to clean is middle position.

That solid-state front end doesn't react in the same way as a tube amp would with an hot signal.
That's probably one of the reasons why it was so adored and loved---and always will be.

I do wonder about guitar settings (volume roll back and such), mic pres, and compressors in the chain.
Certainly some warmth had to have been added somewhere along the way.

Touch is an important factor, too. Feather light, and no need to hammer too hard with the
picking hand/fingers. Unless you want to.
